Stephanie is the founder and CEO of Hear my Soul Speak, LLC., an aging and dementia consultancy company that educates caregivers about Alzheimer’s and counsels them towards becoming the best caregivers to their loved one living with Alzheimer’s. She is a Gerontologist, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and Alzheimer’s Community Educator with over 30 years of combined experience in healthcare, counseling, and geriatric advocacy. She graduated with honors with a Master of Science degree in Gerontology from McDaniel College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration with honors from Washington Adventist University.
Her passion and dedication for the aging population and advancing equity in healthcare and education have propelled her to be one of the few African American female gerontologists and champions fighting Alzheimer’s disease. Her guiding mission is to “make a difference each day for those who are fighting for their tomorrow.” As a speaker, teacher, panelist, trainer, educator, and advocate, Stephanie will not stop until the world finds a cure.
As a Gerontologist, she has advanced study of the aging processes, and diseases related to an aging society to include Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Everyone has the desire to age well and live-in place. She will help educate the aging on the steps to improve their quality of life and promote their well-being as they age within their family structure, community, and society. Through this knowledge, she will help guide them in uncovering the physical, mental, social, emotional, vocational, and spiritual factors that influence aging. Although most of the focus is on the 65 plus age demographic, gerontologists understand the process of aging is best understood by evaluating the complete life course.
As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, she has received achievement in advanced training in the areas of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. She has a passion to ensure each caregiver is educated about each stage of Alzheimer’s as well as guiding the caregiver through tips and management of the stress that accompanies being a caregiver.
She will provide both education and guidance for Alzheimer’s disease and the aging population by personalizing an individual plan specifically for you or for your family as you purposefully take this journey together.
You are not alone. Through her education, combined years in healthcare, counseling, and geriatric advocacy, she would be delighted to help you navigate through this difficult journey that requires tough conversations and challenging decision-making choices.
